CNC Routers for Cabinet Makers & Joiners
Kitchen Cabinets, Wardrobes, Vanities, Cupboards, and Shelving Units.
Designed for Cabinet Makers Who Take Craftsmanship Seriously
When it comes to the construction and installation of built-in or freestanding furniture and whether you’re manufacturing bespoke kitchens, high-end wardrobes, or complete commercial fit-outs, an Opus CNC router transforms your workshop into a precision production hub.
With cabinet makers, we understand that cutting performance, the quality of finish and reliability are paramount as your business relies on fast, accurate, and clean panel processing.
From single-piece production to full-scale batch nesting, our CNC routers offer speed, accuracy, repeatability, and the professional finish your customers demand.
When working with solid timber, birch, plywood, hardwoods, MDF or even laminated chipboard, Opus heavy-duty CNC routers are designed with these materials in mind. The 9kW spindle delivers the torque and RPM for clean and precise cuts, every time.
Why Do Cabinet Makers Choose Opus CNC?
High-Precision Cutting for Fitted Furniture
Cut carcasses, doors, fascias, drawer fronts, and panels with exact dimensions and millimetre-perfect alignment. Our machines eliminate human error and manual rework.
Increase Output Without Increasing Labour
Cut complex parts with rebates, holes, pockets, and edge profiles in a single run. Produce more in less time — without the need for additional staff.
Ready for Edge-Banding and Final Assembly
Our routers leave smooth, chip-free edges that are ready for finishing — saving hours of post-processing.
Perfect for Batch Work and Custom Projects
Switch seamlessly between small custom jobs and larger production runs with stored toolpaths, nesting templates, and project libraries.
Smarter Material Use with Nesting
Save on material costs by nesting multiple parts efficiently within a single sheet. Reduce offcuts and increase yield.
- Manual Cabinetry vs CNC Router Production
Why modern cabinet makers are making the switch
Aspect | Manual Build (Traditional Method) | CNC Router Production (e.g. Olympus/Pegasus) |
---|---|---|
Accuracy | Dependent on hand measurement & skill | Digitally driven — exact measurements every time |
Speed | Slow – time-consuming layout, cutting, drilling | Entire sheet processed in minutes with cut-outs, grooves & hinge holes done in one run |
Repeatability | Variations common between units | Perfect replication across every cabinet |
Waste | Higher material waste from cutting errors | Optimised sheet nesting = minimal offcuts |
Labour Dependence | Relies heavily on experienced tradespeople | One trained operator can run full production |
Complex Designs | Time-consuming and error-prone | Easily handles curves, pockets, dados, joinery |
Scalability | Hard to scale up production | Seamless batch processing or one-offs with speed |
Tooling Changes | Manual saw/blade change between operations | Automatic tool change for profiling, drilling, cutting – all in one job file |
Drilling Hinge Holes / Shelf Pegs | Requires jigs and setups | Precision drilled automatically via programmed coordinates |
Lead Times | Longer turnaround per kitchen or project | Shorter lead times, higher throughput |
Our Most popular asked questions
FAQs for Cabinet Makers & Joiners
Can it handle solid timber, MDF, and laminated chipboard?
Yes, absolutely. At Opus, our CNC routers are designed by experienced engineers who understand the components required for materials such as MDF, birch plywood, laminated boards, and hardwoods. The 9kW spindle delivers superior torque and RPM, providing clean and accurate cuts whether you’re shaping solid timber doors or nesting flat-pack cabinets.
Will the edges be clean straight off the machine, or will we need to sand them?
You’ll get a very clean finish straight from the machine, especially on MDF and laminate. Using the right compression or spiral tooling, many of our cabinet-making customers go straight to assembly without needing additional sanding—saving time on every job.
Can it cut full 8x4 sheets accurately?
Yes. The Olympus 1325 and 1530 models are built specifically for 8×4 and 5×10 sheet sizes, with a robust frame and a matrix-zoned vacuum bed that gives consistent hold across the whole sheet, even when nesting smaller parts.
How strong is the vacuum bed hold-down?
We’ve designed our own matrix vacuum system in-house. It offers far better hold than typical grid beds, especially when cutting smaller cabinet parts. Each machine includes powerful vacuum pumps to ensure your material doesn’t move mid-cut—even on slick laminated boards.
Will the machine slow us down with tool changes?
Not at all. The automatic tool changer switches tools in seconds without stopping the program. Whether you’re switching from a roughing tool to a finishing bit, or to a drill for hinge holes, it keeps your workflow fast and efficient.
What software does it come with? Is it easy to use?
We include VCarve Pro with every machine, which is very intuitive and ideal for cabinetry. It allows you to import DXFs, nest parts, assign tools, and simulate your cuts. We also provide full software training to ensure you’re confident from day one.
Can it handle cabinet joinery operations—like dados, rabbets, and hinge holes?
Yes. With the right tooling and setup in your software, you can run operations like dado grooves, rabbets, and even drill hinge holes in the same job file using different tools from the tool carousel.
Is this machine suitable for making custom and batch furniture?
It’s ideal for both. Whether you’re batch-cutting kitchen carcasses or producing custom one-offs, the machine gives you repeatable accuracy, fast changeovers with the ATC, and full control over your designs.
Is it futureproof—can we add more automation later?
Definitely. Many of our customers start with the ATC model and later add a side-drilling machine or even additonal machines to increase throughput. Our machines are built with industry-standard components, so they’re ready for integration with downstream processes.
What kind of support do you offer after installation?
You get full UK-based support—by phone, email, and through our customer portal. Our engineers are on-hand to assist with setup, tooling advice, or troubleshooting. You also get 2 years warranty on parts and labour, and lifetime access to updates and support.
