What to consider when purchasing a CNC router.

Tool Change Type

Deciding whether you need a manual or automatic tool change can future-proof any CNC router investment. Of course, realistically, this can come down to budget, but some CNC routers have the flexibility to have the auto tool change function added at a later date, just like the Olympus PRO CNC router.

Motors

Stepper motors are a cheaper alternative to servo motors. Servo motors give a much more accurate performance and stability and have less vibration. Lifespan

As maintenance plays a big part in the longevity of any CNC router, the Opus CNC routers come with automatic bearing lubrication. In addition, all Opus CNC routers include felt wipers in front of the bearings, which ensures a dust-free environment surrounding the bearings, as well as automatic lubrication.

Weight

There are many CNC routers on the market. However, we recommend you always ensure the CNC router you choose is a decent weight. A heavier CNC router machine will be stronger and heavy-duty rather than insubstantial on lighter CNC machines which is why all of the Opus CNC routers are at least 2 tons and are built to last.

Vacuum Suction

Nobody wants to purchase a CNC machine and find it doesn’t hold their material down sufficiently. Luckily, our engineering team redesigned the vacuum beds on all of our CNC routers to maximise suction; this is down to an innovative matrix zoned system that gives strong suction throughout the entire bed.

Support

A good support network is essential for any CNC router purchase. Therefore, always ensure that replacement parts are readily available.
