Installation Process
The real journey starts when your new Opus machine arrives!
Delivery
Firstly, a member of our Operations team will work with you to organise a suitable delivery date. Secondly, they will discuss the delivery process so you can prepare yourself in advance.
CNC Machines:
Your machine will be delivered by either a curtain-side or a HIAB lorry. All machines with a bed size larger than 2m wide will be delivered free of charge by a HIAB. All smaller machines will be delivered by a curtain-sided lorry.
HIAB deliveries do not require a forklift, as our experienced delivery team will safely offload the machine using a crane. Whereas, curtain-side deliveries will require a forklift of at least 3 tons to lift off the CNC router. Fork extensions will be needed when using a forklift. Generally, 2.1m fork extensions will be sufficient.

Laser Machines:
Due to the wide range of laser machines we offer, from compact benchtop models to large-format flatbed systems, delivery requirements can vary depending on the size, weight, and setup of each machine. For this reason, we recommend carefully reviewing the delivery information provided in the box on the right. The applicable delivery method, including whether HiAB offloading or forklift assistance is required, will be clearly stated in the information box. If you are unsure which option applies to your order, please don’t hesitate to contact our team for guidance before completing your purchase.
- Oculus Benchtop Lasers - By Opus
- Oculus Free-standing Lasers - By Opus
- Oculus Flatbed Lasers <2m wide - curtain-side delivery
- Oculus Flatbed Lasers >2m wide - HIAB delivery
- Lumi PRO Fibre Lasers - curtain-side delivery
- Lumi Ultra Fibre Lasers <2m wide- curtain-side delivery
- Lumi Ultra Fibre Lasers >2m wide- HIAB delivery
- Lumi Marker Lasers - By Opus
All deliveries by Opus or by HIAB do not require a forklift. However, all curtain-side deliveries will require a forklift with a lifting capacity of at least 3 tons.
Positioning:
All CNC machines and fibre lasers are positioned using two pallet trucks, with one placed at each end of the machine to ensure safe and controlled movement into place. Oculus laser machines and Lumi Marker lasers, on the other hand, are mounted on wheels and can be easily manoeuvred into position.
Installation

CNC Machines:
Once the machine is in position, one of the Opus engineers will connect the CNC router to the isolator. They will also hard-wire the extraction unit and vacuum pumps, which we include. They will then carry out the full commissioning of the CNC; this process takes place on Day 1.
All Opus engineers are experienced and go through rigorous in-house training programs throughout their careers.
Please note:Â An Opus engineer will connect your cabling from the isolator to the CNC control box. Please ensure you have enough SY cable 6mm, plus an extra 2m to reach from the isolator to the desired control box position. The additional cable is necessary to provide our engineer with enough flexibility to connect the CNC machine to the control box without stretching the cable.
Fibre Laser Machines:
An experienced Opus engineer will complete the full installation of your Lumi PRO or ULTRA Fibre Laser on Day 1. This includes completing all necessary electrical connections and carrying out a full commissioning process to ensure the machine is operating to specification.
Our installation service also includes initial calibration, software setup, and a functional test to verify cut quality and performance. This ensures your machine is production-ready from the moment installation is complete.
Please note that the Lumi Fibre Laser requires external gas connections for optimal operation. We strongly recommend contacting a member of our Operations team before delivery to discuss the specific requirements for oxygen and nitrogen supply. They will provide guidance on gas type, purity levels, pressure specifications, and recommended supplier options to ensure a smooth and compliant setup.
Should you require assistance in sourcing or installing the correct gas equipment, our team will be happy to advise.
COâ‚‚ Laser Machines:
The installation of the Oculus COâ‚‚ laser cutting machines is a straightforward and efficient process, typically completed within just a few hours. These machines are designed for quick deployment, making them ideal for workshops, studios, schools, and small businesses looking for minimal disruption during setup.
An experienced Opus engineer will carry out the full installation on-site. This includes positioning the machine, connecting it to power, and performing all necessary setup procedures. Once installed, the engineer will conduct a complete calibration and functionality test. This includes levelling the laser bed, checking mirror alignment, verifying focus height, and ensuring smooth operation across the whole working area.
By the end of the visit, your Oculus COâ‚‚ laser will be fully set up, tested, and ready for training.
Training
Comprehensive training is included with all Opus CNC and laser machinery. Training is delivered in two key parts: machine operation and software use.
For users with little or no prior experience, our experienced engineers tailor the training to your current skill level. This ensures the information is delivered at a manageable pace, preventing overload and helping to build a clear, confident understanding of how to operate the machine and its software effectively.
For users who are already familiar with CNC routers or laser machines, our training is customised to suit individual experience levels and specific operational needs. Rather than covering the basics in detail, we focus on more advanced features, workflow optimisation, and any areas where users would benefit from additional support.
Whether you need a refresher on software integration, tips on improving production efficiency, or guidance on advanced machine functions, our engineers will adapt the session to ensure maximum value and relevance.
This personalised approach ensures that every user, regardless of experience, receives training that is both time-efficient and practically beneficial.
Our goal is to ensure every user feels confident, capable, and supported from day one.
